good times

Not many (as in zip, zero, zilch) projects have been going down this past month.  I've just been getting to know my new little man and enjoying the holidays with family.
Here are a few little random snippets of life lately.

Christmas was very low key this year, awesome, and just what we needed.
What I needed more than a relaxing Christmas was self restraint from eating my weight in these Maple Nut Chocolate Candies.  Dear God.  So much for loosing the baby weight :/  If you ever make them, do your rear end and thighs a favor and make sure you give them ALL away.  Seriously.
My backside isn't the only thing growing around here.  Sam is growing like a weed and sleeping better every day.  This is awesome not only because it's sleep... sweet, sweet, sleep, but because I'm getting REALLY antsy wanting to start some projects.  The start of a new year makes it even worse.  I'm already making a list in my head of house resolutions.  It's always much easier to stick to those than the personal ones ;)
I'll sign off here with a funny pic.  I was trying to catch Sam smiling so I could include a cute pic of him in this post.  Needless to say, I didn't get it :D
Hope you all have a Happy New Years!  Stay safe!

samuel's newborn photos

Thursday, December 20, 2012

Hey guys, long time no see!  Thank you again to all the amazing gals that guest posted for me while I was away.
So, my new little Samuel is already 1 month old people.  ONE MONTH.  I'm pretty much in shock.  Shock or maybe just complete and total exhaustion, ha!
Anywho, I wanted to share some of my favs from his newborn photos my friend Tobi took for us.  Looking at these, I feel like he has already changed so much.

We're so in love with him.

My heart is still hurting after what happened in Newtown.  I'm so thankful I'm able to hold my babies.  I can't even imagine what that must be like for those families.  They are all in my prayers.

My Perfect Christmas....
I can't imagine spending Christmas anywhere else. Home is where the heart is...but there would be snow covering those leaves...after all, this is the perfect Christmas!

I only wish that home was decorated like this...I headed straight over to my one of my favorite blogs for vintage Christmas inspiration.
I'd be sipping on my mom's crock pot cranberry and orange juice cider.

I'd wake up to a few of these...

Thank you Shelley for having me over to share my perfect Christmas. That perfect Christmas of course would include you and yours. If only we lived closer! Love you most, and so proud of you! You are an amazing mama!

perfect christmas - midwestern girl

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be here guest-posting for Shelley while she is taking a little baby-break...(smile)! My name is Maggie and I blog over at Midwestern Girl DIY - I hope you come on by to say "hi!" sometime!

So, let's really took a while for me to decide where I would love to spend a perfect Christmas. I love spending the holidays here in my home, with my crazy kids and my wonderful husband...BUT, if given the chance, I would love to spend a Christmas here...

...snow-filled streets, a big ol' party-on-the-porch, a huge, warm home...isn't it just awesome???

And this is the way it would be decorated inside...

I may actually try some of this this the evergreens in the galvanized bucket...

Seriously, aren't those just gorgeous Christmas settings???

Here's what I would be sipping...

...a lime margarita on-the-rocks...oh my gosh, so yum...of course, I'd love to be sipping this any day of the year.

...and here's what would be under the tree (well, in the driveway with a huge red bow anyway...)

...a 2013 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite...I really need a new car. If any of y'all have an extra one lying around - email me.

Thank you so so much, Shelley, for having me over today!!! I wish all of you a very Merry Merry Christmas and wonderfully Happy and Healthy New Year!

perfect christmas - all things bright and beautiful

Monday, December 10, 2012

Definitely needs to be spent in a cabin with snow, most likely somewhere in Colorado...Durango, maybe?

Of course we would have to have plenty of shiny decorations, *LIGHTS*, and pretty pretty packages!

Food, food, food!

All pics via

And I would *love* to find this beaut under the tree from Santa (c;

But my absolute favorite tradition for Christmas is being with all my loved ones!

Thanks for having me over for Christmas, Shelley!

(and get that kiddo out here, I want to meet him!!!)

perfect christmas - pawley's island posh

Wednesday, December 5, 2012

Hey friends!  I'm Julia from Pawleys Island Posh and I'm happy to be here filling in for sweet Shelley while she snuggles on her new baby boy.

My ideal Christmas would start off with Christmas Eve at our house in the city.
And I'd decorate super traditional.

We'd then pack up the kids and head to my in-laws house in the mountains to spend some time celebrating a country style Christmas

I'd eat lots of appetizers and drink lots of cocktails

And the perfect gift, a pair of fab Louboutain flats.

Well, not really, I want a sectional.  Yes, I said it.  I want a sectional folks.

Be sure to check out more from Julia at Pawley's Island Posh!
